Professor Angelakis has been building and leading quantum computing research teams in the UK, Greece and Singapore for more than 27 years.

His academic work focuses on developing hardware-efficient quantum algorithms that can be implemented on near-term quantum computers, with applications in optimisation and machine learning. He was honoured with the 2018 Google Quantum Innovation Award, the Valerie Myerscough Award from the University of London, as well as the Best PhD Thesis Award in Quantum Electronics from the Institute of Physics (UK).

Professor Angelakis also serves as a member of the National AI Task Force for Cyprus, the Informatics Group of NCRTI Greece, and the QCN group of the EU Quantum Flagship. Past engagements include serving as Cloud Quantum Computing Coordinator for the Singapore Quantum Engineering Programme.

In parallel with his academic work, he is the founder and scientific advisor of AngelQ Quantum Computing, a consulting and quantum software solutions company developing quantum AI solutions for finance, logistics, pharma and defence sectors. AngelQ operates in Singapore, Greece, the UK and Canada. Current and past engagements include Kantar WPP, Thales, ST Engineering, Pfizer, ExxonMobil and the Singapore Stock Exchange.
